No Man is an Island

I have yet to see a person who is perfect at everything. If that person does exist, please, let the world know. As a Creative at Fourth Avenue Design, creating a design is an intense process before the outcome is “picture-perfect”. The most important part of getting a decent outcome in any design, is taking criticism as a positive thing and for personal growth.

Writing papers is not one of my preferred things, especially if it exceeds five pages, and I bet I am not the only person that thinks this. There are many times I have written a paper and sounded correct in my head. Until I have someone peer review it. Where I find, red color marks everywhere due to incorrect grammar, unclear sentences, or some other issue. Alert! This writing has been reviewed.

This is also a similar experience in our Agency. Molly will see a design and say, “That font is boring”, but to the designer it looked perfect. Jeff always urges us to, “look for errors.”

It does not hurt my feelings to get my designs criticized, but instead it feels good to known that people care enough to help me produce the best work possible. I have learned that feedback and suggestions should always be looked at as positive, and if well utilized the outcome is fantastic. Our critique portion normally expands a Creatives ideas and perspectives, it allows us to recognize unresolved issues and makes work easy and fun. Most importantly, the criticism has strengthened our relationships within Fourth Avenue Design.

Take criticism positively to make the best outcome possible for:

No man is an island, no man stands alone.
