Bumps, Twists & Turns

This week at Fourth Avenue Design we got our first negative critique on our designs. Initially, I think this response caught most of us off guard, but after reflecting on this it is a great learning experience. Taking feedback and concerns, and listening to the client is the best way for a new agency to learn. Just like a road that has curves, bumps, cracks, twists and turns – the same goes when working with a client. Not all feedback is going to be positive, but the important thing to remember is to learn from it.
One important aspect I think we learned from this was that communication between designers and client is key. Although sometimes the client is unsure about their vision for their business, often times they relay important information during the process. Our issue was that it was not relayed to our designers in time. It is important for everyone involved on the design tickets to give important specific details to all the others involved as well. This keeps the vision clear, and the client happy.
Overall, this was a big learning experience. We have seen our first negative review, and we plan on taking the clients comments and concerns and turning around our designs to meet their needs!
