Group Profiling

One of the greatest challenges of any group, family, organization, or team is the old saying that goes, “there’s no I in team.” This couldn’t be more true when you are starting an advertising agency from scratch. With a make-up of a bunch of seniors, we have been doing group projects since day one. We have all dealt with different individuals who prioritize different things. It’s pretty clear there are about 4 different people you could be paired up with.

Individual #1 the Go-Getter

This person is always looking to do the next best things, no matter how much time it will take. They are willing to put in their part to help the group get a good grade, and come up with something pretty cool.

Individual #2 the 4.0

This person will take charge of the whole project, they want to make sure that everything gets turned in on time and is not late. They are very particular with how assignments are done, so they feel they are better off just doing it themselves.

Individual #3 The What Should I Do?

This person has trouble figuring out what to do and when to do it. This is very frustrating for The 4.0, but the Go-Getter is usually understanding and is grateful for the help! This person is able to work hard, when put to a task.

Individual #4 Where Are We Meeting?

This is the person who has trouble staying up to date, hence has no clue where the group is meeting. This person usually gets lucky with having The 4.0 in the group do all of their work, frustrating for everyone.

You may be confused why I felt this was important to write a blog post about. Well, as much as we all get frustrated with group projects (We are all Go-Getters and The 4.0s) this class is one huge group project, and we all understand the importance of staying Go-Getters and 4.0s to be able to succeed. We need a well-rounded group to grow our agency and prove to the University that the seniors in the Advertising program have what it takes to run, and in our case start, their own agencies.

This is a very unique opportunity and it’s very cool to see how well we are able to work together, and when it gets rough, well that’s just training for the real world.

Signing off,

Britt
